But we were looking at footage and unless they used photoshop, which would be impressive in moving images, some soldiers did have loaded weapons, most did not.

(450 posts)They have the ammunition with the troops that is controlled by the NCO. All army's do this to prevent some private from starting a war.

(1,832 posts)ammo in their weapons in areas that are friendly to them? The Crimea is basically little Russia. We did the same thing in Iraq in Kurdistan. Hell in Sulimaniyah, we had no ammo, wore no body armor and had places in the city we could go to for dinner, dancing with young Kurdish women and other recreational pursuits. Suli and Arbil were amazing, our presence there was small, but I spent many a night in Suli having dinner and people watching with no ammo or body armor, didn't even have my weapon. The Kurds guaranteed our safety. So these images of Russians with no bullets seems very analogous........
