I don't listen to Fox, but when I happen to hear it, it's as bad or worse than we think

At Dad's and he had the news on today, maybe Fox, not sure, I just heard from the next room. The news anchor said: "President Obama submits a budget with 1 billion in spending on the poor, despite evidence that these types of programs are ineffective. Coming up, Republican Senators tell us how this money could be better spent."

Now that's accurate and unbiased reporting!

1. fox leads the list for inaccuracy in media. In fact most of the MSM is not very good. There are a

few exceptions, but except for those few, accuracy is not high on their list

In fact, I have heard some apologists for that kind of reporting, excusing it because "the competitive nature of the business is to get the story out first". It is a sorry excuse for a inept fourth estate

2. It has nothing to do with competitiveness or scooping a story.

It's all about managing the public's perceptions and shaping their opinions to the benefit of the oligarchs.

4. It's not even so much the accuracy as the editorializing

that is not really marked as such. This was the news anchor introducing the story. Walter Cronkite would never have done it like that. So fair and balanced!

6. While studies have shown that people seek out "news they agree with" the issue with MSM is bigger

than that. It isn't just Fox, all the MSM cable news shows and The TODAY Show, GMA, etc have black lists of guests they won't put on and issues they won't cover.

There is no opposing view presented anywhere -- TDS and Colbert are, at times, just another way to watch Fox News. SNL is likewise obsessed with making Fox the poster child for the things that ALL of the networks do now. There is avery narrow range of issues that get coverage and the coverage they get is designed to sell us on the "solution" they want, like the Iraq war for example.

9. Exactly, you can get all kinds of view from the internet

or print media, but the M$M knows they have a lot of the apolitical audience who thinks they are keeping up on current events by watching them.

At least the comedians have an interest in making fun of them and some more might leak through that way.

7. Listening to Fox or right wing radio is like...

...being stuck at the table with that right-wing relative or in-law who just says whatever the hell is on his/her mind, no matter how uneducated he or she really is about the situation.

Honestly, I don't think there's much difference.

is so blatantly evidence of what they are doing. That presentation was about as biased as it could be, and not even subtle!
