Kerry bearing gifts: $1 Billion for Ukraine

so how does that happen? We cut $8 billion in food stamps but it's no problem to cut a check for a billion. What are they trying to buy? In 2012 we gave Ukraine 280 million in total aid.

Ukraine may be lots of things, but for sure it's a strategic pawn for both the U.S. and Russia.

1. GOP Congress doesn't control that part of the budget giving aid to Ukraine.

Thank you for linking the two, though. I don't suppose you could find it in you to agree with the majority of Ukraine people who wanted to align their future interests with Europe instead of being forced under Russia's thumb, eh?

control the purse strings when it comes to foreign aid? Does Congress simply allocate a certain amount of dollars to USAID and the administration decides how to divide it up? That's never been my understanding of how it works, but then again my understanding of this is vague.

We have money for the Pentagon and Ukraine, but not our crumbling country.

Americans are being looted beyond recognition, and it is a result of Republican and Third Way POLICY.

Funny how we couldn't bail out the pensioners and municipal employees of Detroit but we can offer this bunch the 'full backing of the United States' on top of the 5 Billion we already spent there.

I guess John Kerry may be an evil, malevolent person who gets satisfaction from rubbing this kind of thing in the faces of the US unemployed and food stamp recipients. Or perhaps it is just possible that he is an intelligent person and sees this kind of aid as a small price to pay to help bring stability to the Ukraine and this part of the world and reduce the chances of a war breaking out.
