Republicans are convinced the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, undercut Hillary Clinton's case for becoming the next president.

But Benghazi has yet to register as an Achilles heel for Clinton with the American public.

A new Pew Research Center poll asked people about the most positive and negative aspects of Clinton's political career.

While Benghazi was the most frequently mentioned event or thing, just 15 percent cited it as the most negative aspect of her career. The second most negative thing people cited was her husband, Bill Clinton, and/or his affair with Monica Lewinsky in the Oval Office.

And that is why Rand Paul has been attacking and "helping" Americans remember; Bill Clinton's transgressions. That line of attack is being "tested"; they take polls too.

The 15% that see this as their #1 issue corresponds to that percentage of voters that identify as hardline conservatives. Bill O'Reilly can lead with Benghazi every night from now until the 2016 elections and that 15% will not change.

Resurrecting the Monica Lewinsky scandal will eventually blow back on Rand Paul. Hillary gained a lot of sympathy during those months of public humiliation. Voters who are likely to swayed by this issue are just as likely to swing in the other direction when Bill Clinton talks about family and forgiveness. He will defend his wife while continuing to repent his own infidelity. Rand is going to end up looking like a meanie. An elitist meanie. Not a winning strategy for someone who wants to woo the female vote.
