Things In Politico That Make Me Want To Guzzle Antifreeze
The first time that Elliott Abrams was close to the center of power in American foreign policy, he was a supporter of death squads in Central America, going so far as to spread disinformation about massacres committed by the brave freedom fighters we were supporting. Then he became a criminal for deceiving Congress about it. His record is clean because he snuck through a loophole -- a "technicality," as it is usually called on the Right when some kid who sticks up a 7-11 beats the rap because he wasn't Mirandized. That is the caliber of man to whom Tiger Beat On The Potomac gives a platform to say the following:
The only part of old-fashioned realpolitik that he does follow religiously is indifference to humanitarian matters. The administration has been extremely weak on human rights policy, from the early embrace of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt and the silence when Iranians rose in protest against the June 2009 elections, to the astonishing Syria policy that has led to suffering of vast dimensions.
Elliott Abrams, defender of butchers, liar in the service of murder, is lecturing the president as being "weak on human rights."
If I thought Mike Allen had the shame god gave the common duck, I'd suggest that he leave journalism forever and go to work tending swine in El Mozote.
Jesus, these really are the fking mole people.

(10,820 posts)What is truly amazing are the countless posts by conservatives that accuse Politico of being completely biased in favor of liberals or it take its orders from George Soros. If it were not for Politico, Palin would only have FOX News. They run a story about Sarah every single week.

I went who the fuck are these guys?
because they didn't have any following on the net and came out of nowhere.
They are actually a right wing supported organization financed by the right.

(10,820 posts)White House press conference with GW Bush. He had taken questions and was hurrying to leave when someone said something to him and he did an about face and told the assembled audience to welcome a now Internet news outlet called Politico. He said something else about them and then walked out. I thought it was very strange at the time and remember thinking that if W was going out of his way to mention the org. that it must be part of the right wing media machine. Time proved that guess to be absolutely correct.
Cheers!

They are right wing weirdos and they took him off the ABC market in DC, where all the politicians are. It made his position unsustainable because he couldn't reach a huge market that contained some of his most ardent viewers.
I was living in that area at the time and I had family tape the show and mail it to me, posthaste (this was before the days of thumb drives and easy file xfers). We'd hand that tape all around until the next one arrived. Pain in the ass, though to have to watch it that way.
The good news is he got a bigger, better show where F bombs can be dropped as needed. No censorship and no poutrage over "politically incorrect" views.
