Obama: Maybe I should say I oppose raising the minimum wage, then Republicans would be for it

Obama Tries Reverse Psychology: Maybe If I Said I Opposed Raising Minimum Wage…
by Matt Wilstein | 4:00 pm, March 5th, 2014

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama traveled to New Britain, Connecticut, where he made his case for a national increase of the minimum wage to $10.10 for all workers. Towards the end of his speech there, the president toyed with the idea of using some reverse psychology on his Republican opponents. “Maybe I should say I oppose raising the minimum wage,” he said. Then, “they’d be for it.”

Obama cited statistics that say nearly 75% of all Americans and 50% of Republicans support raising the minimum wage, but somehow Republicans in Congress almost uniformly oppose it. “Now, I don’t know if that’s because I proposed it,” he joked.

“Maybe I should say I oppose raising the minimum wage,” Obama said. “They’d be for it, that’s possible.”

Reverse psychology worked for Bugs and Br'er Rabbit. But, the wabbits were the smart ones there. I can't think of anything organic or inorganic despicable enough to describe our Republican congress.

Reminds me of this golden oldie:

If one morning I walked on top of the water across the Potomac River, the headline that afternoon would read: 'President Can't Swim.'

Opposing a minimum wage increase is something that helps the wealthy continue to steal money from the working poor, and they looove that shit. If President Obama came out with a new tax cut for the wealthy, the R's would laud it as the greatest idea since invading Grenada.

Reduce wages for everyone from top to bottom so that the lovely corporations can make more profits.

Then the Tea Partiers would be screaming to increase wages.

(Just remember what happened in the Syria crisis. Repubs were shouting to attack Syria. Then Obama and Kerry went all in with the war rhetoric and Repub attitudes flipped from 35% against to 70% against military action in a week).
