The Poor Wittle Persecuted Christian Family Redux- Why I stand by

characterizing them that way. Oh, yeah and fuck them and their fuckwad sponsors and friends.

Muriel Volestrangler (my favorite DU name by leagues) has a most excellent post about how this faux persecuted German family claiming asylum from persecution is a pile of wingnut shit of the worst and most cynical kind.

The Obama administration rightfully opposed giving these lying ass right wing fuckwad parents asylum and the admin won. No, they're not deporting them and that's fine; deporting them would have just give the wingnuts something to rally over and lie about- just as they've been lying this whole time.

And yeah, fuck the religious right.

From the fearless Volestrangler:

The family could have moved to Austria, and home-schooled, without any 'asylum' seeking - a German-speaking country next door. They could have moved to the UK, or several other EU countries, and home-schooled, if they wanted. But instead they moved to the USA so they could hook up with Michael Farris, founder of the Christian extremist Patrick Henry College, and be used by him for publicity. Just search DU for what he's been involved in - blocking ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and much more:

I'm a Christian, and I wasn't insulted by that wording.

OTOH, I was insulted by the notion these fanatics stated that they had to seek 'asylum' in the US.

The word 'asylum' implies that someone was chasing them, hunting them down because of their religious beliefs, and the only safe haven was here in the US. This is clearly not the case, as the OP demonstrated.

It was applied to these particular whiny frauds pretending to be persecuted Christians.

Not everything is about you, YA. Some Christians deserve nothing but criticism, especially those that are Faithful Panhandlers and those that whine about non-existent persecution.

You're just looking for an opportunity to pick a fight based on your fauxoutrage.

Which type of Christian does that make you?

There's a reason most people don't like modern Christians. If I were a religious person, I would be so much more outraged by the pseudo-xtians who run around misquoting the bible and mischaracterizing Christianity. I would be livid at the preachers who preach hate from the pulpit and pretty pissed at any parents who wanted to indoctrinate their children in flat earth lies.

In all probability these people could have applied for citizenship on their own merits.
Then, they could have raised their children in accordance with their beliefs.

But Noooooooooooooo.....................
They chose to be lying ass right wing fuckwads.
This, we have more than enough of.

There are many others who are tired, or poor or are tempest-tossed who would make better neighbors.
This, we need more of.

Unless you know this family personally, I don't think you have any idea what kind of neighbors they would be.

They tend to be cut from the same cloth...crazy wrapped in hate.

Sadly, my own brother's family has become one of these.

This family may not be that way, but given the organization that is supporting them, I wouldn't bet the farm on them being decent people.

Pray to what ever god pleases you.
That is your faith. That is you're right.
I admire that you can do so.

It is not a crutch or is it an excuse.
It does not make you "special".

Jesus and Moses are walking along the beach when Moses says, "You know what? I'm going to try and part the ocean again." He throws his hands in the air and, magically, the ocean parts.

Jesus sees this and says, "I'm going to try to walk on water again." He walks up to the water, takes a step on top and sinks.

Moses says, "Try it again, Jesus. It's been a while." Jesus tries again, and once more, he sinks.

Jesus comes out of the water and says, "I don't know what is going on, maybe I'm losing it"

Moses says, "Well, last time you tried to do this you didn't have holes in your feet"

Specifically, the illegality of home-schooling in Germany?

"Poor Wittle Cwistians" seems like an unnecessarily abrasive framing of the situation. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't start a "Poor Wittle Hasidic Jews" thread if their religion was different. Or a "Poor Wittle Muslims" thread.
