Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., came onto the stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference today brandishing some touch a long gun.
McConnell held the rifle over his head and the CPAC crowd loved it.
Moments later, McConnell handed the gift, a lifetime achievement award from the National Rifle Association, to his retiring colleague, Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn, who is leaving his term early for health reasons.
This is for you, McConnell said. For your distinguished service.
Kentuckys senior senator faces his toughest re-election bid yet, and it is being made even more difficult by disenchantment among voters in his own party.
McConnell delivered a red meat speech to the conservative activists, pummeling President Obama and Democrats for having done next to nothing for the little guy, failing working families, and flaunting the Constitution.

"Someone tell @Team_Mitch that's not the way to hold a gun. KY women do it better."
Kudos to Alison L. Grimes! That's how you do it Hoyt. Your way on the other hand, being all condescending and snooty, looking down your nose at "Gun fanciers" only serves to alienate too many voters.

(3,813 posts)This attitude will keep the South in Republican hands. I have voted solidly Democratic all of my life, but even I have my limits. Too many Democrats seem intent on testing those limits by cutting Social Security or promoting corporatist trade deals like the TPP.
Gun-grabbing legislation is just one more reason for a rights-fancying guy like myself to shrug and say, "What's the point of even voting?"
Good thing Alison Grimes seems more intent on invigorating her base. NC could use a good Democratic Senate candidate like her in 2016 to unseat Burr. As for the 2014 ballot, Kay Hagan has been quite reasonable about Second Amendment rights.

(3,813 posts)Enjoy your road trip to irrelevance & oblivion, Caretha. I won't be traveling with you.
You can troll-ishly attempt to tar rational people with views differing from yours as dribbling, 'easily fooled low-information,' etc. But can you debate the issues rather than just sneer? Apparently not.
Right now, legislation is unfolding in CT, CA, and other locations here in the US that is actually 'grabbing' guns. People (including me) are paying attention. This is not a symptom of low information. The CT legislation in particular is egregious and unconstitutional.
If Republicans were hiring trolls to drive intelligent Constitution-loving voters their way, you could make bank with haughty pronouncements such as yours.

(2,737 posts)explain exactly how you cannot have more unnecessary guns than you need and every psycho path in the US also has and does. Until then you are shouting at a blank wall and have not presented anything that infringes on your rights as dictated by the constitution and your ability to own all the fire power you could ever possibly need or want.
No one is taking that away nor could they possibly due to the amount of guns/ammo etc already existing in these here big bad ass land of the free etc etc ad nausem.
What? ...you see a commie in every corner with an AK 47 invading the US going house to house and cranny hole to cranny hole ferreting out those hidden stashes? If so friend you have way to much tinfoil acting as a hat on your head than is healthy.
BTW - I own a bad ass gun and am an excellent shot. Also I have way more ammunition than I'll ever need for target practice or protecting myself - which at one point in my little whittle girl life needed. I carried way to much money around in the dark by myself and lots of bad guys knew it.
I'm alive and never had to use it to protect myself. So stick that up your itty bitty scared ass boy's ass and quit acting like a weenie and afraid that someone will come get your arsenal.

(3,813 posts)Keep slinging insults like an arrogant twit. See how many votes that attracts to the Democratic Party...
Congratulations that you consider yourself a badass. Live it up! I am just a regular guy, with no particular claims to toughness. Nonetheless, I am not afraid of you, or anyone else spouting such petty, small-minded, insulting drivel. Like I already said, irrelevance and oblivion will be the crowning achievements of your hostility and arrogance. I'm sure it makes you feel very special. It is not, however, a strategy for building a party, or a movement.
