Ad Blasts Jindal After State Demands Pro-Obamacare Sign Be Taken Down

Ad Blasts Jindal After State Demands Pro-Obamacare Sign Be Taken Down

A new ad rips the Louisiana state government and Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) for demanding that a billboard criticizing Jindal for refusing to expand Medicaid under Obamacare be taken down.

The ad comes from MoveOn, the liberal organization that paid for the billboard and is tangling with Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne (R), who sent a cease-and-desist letter to the group in an effort to get the sign removed.

<...>

MoveOn has refused to take down the sign.

The five-figure ad buy will place the 30-second spot on TV stations in the Baton Rouge area.

Yeah they use the state's (taxpayer funded) slogan, "Pick your passion," but they are clearly using it as a political parody so Bobby is going to lose this one. Plus it makes him look like a schmuck.

I don't know if there is a fair use exception to trademarks, but the wording on the original sign is equivalent to the wording of a trademarked phrase use for tourism outreach.

Everyone who is paying into Federal taxes is paying for states Medicaid... By not expanding it, they are paying for the Blue states health care... And causing their own budgets to continue to bleed from current Medicaid coverage and the costs of the uninsured using the most expensive health care they have no other option for with ER rooms...

If I was a Dem strategist, I would be creating an outrage stink over paying taxes and not receiving services with a state health care exchange and expanded Medicaid option. Forget the repeal crap or running from it... It's the law and no one is going to give back what is already in place! Run on their obstruction! And that the state's taxpayers are paying for out of state services and harming their own state.

It will cause people to turn on them and demand for the Gov's to opt in.

Medicaid expansion that they are paying twice because of the actions of their governors. They pay first in taxes, then pay even more a second time when critically ill uninsured people use emergency rooms and can't pay the huge bills.

Not only that, there is a lie that has been debunked about how much the federal government under the ACA will pay the states. The fraudulent excuse has been given by some Koch loving GOP govenors, that the 100% shortfall the ACA covers will end and enrollments can bankrupt future state budgets.

State Medicaid budgets share paid by the federal fund does go down, very gradually, but still remains much higher than what they are now getting.

I'll have to search for that one, it may have even been one of your posts at DU. It reinforces the facts in the MoveOn ad.

Thanks for posting this. The people of Louisiana are being scammed by Jindal, and he is costing them real money. Add to that, his policy is immoral, and there are a lot of religious people in that state. Jesus did not command people to end a person's life for a buck!

And on a related matter, it was Jindal who decided that people in churches should be able to carry guns inside the church itself. That shows very little faith in God.
