Colorado collected more than $3.5 million in taxes and fees from both recreational and medical marijuana sales in January, according to figures released today by the state's Department of Revenue.
Of that amount, more than $2 million came from recreational pot.
Colorado became the first state where recreational pot went on sale on Jan. 1. Washington is the only other state with legal recreational pot, which is expected to go on sale this summer.
The first month of recreational sales falls in line with expectations, said Barbara Brohl, executive director of the Colorado Department of Revenue, in a statement.

decide they want on the bandwagon. I can just hear the spin now. While we don't agree with marijuana usage, just think of the good we could do for our states less fortunate individuals.

I can safely say that while the prices need to go down, nothing is cooler than looking at my errands for the day and seeing "Dispensary" on the list. Not to mention making a purchase and walking out the door, knowing I can't get busted for it.
The dam is cracked, and soon the floodgates will be opened.

may eliminate the paranoia factor. I've always believed illegality is the main component of paranoia.
How's it seem to you? Anyone noticed anything?
