Teacher says he was banned from attending Obama's speech

BIG MOUTH GOT HIM IN TROUBLE!!

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. -

As President Barack Obama was speaking at Coral Reef Senior High School last Friday, social studies teacher Randall Scott said he was left sitting alone in his classroom.

Scott said school administrators told him last week that he was "banned" from hearing the president's speech.

He claims the reason is because of his politics. He's an outspoken conservative who makes no effort to hide his views on social media and in the classroom.

The teacher regularly uses his Instagram and Twitter accounts to voice his opposition to the Obama administration. Scott said he fosters open political discussion in his advanced-placement American history classes.

"I believe if I share my views with students and they share their views with me then it's a learning process for both of us," Scott said.

But in the past week, two students have asked to leave Scott's class as a result of things he's said.

Prior to Obama's visit, Scott ignored a school administration request to tone down his social media postings.

I'm pretty sure the conversation went:

Admins: "Mr. Scott, regardless of your personal politics we need your explicit assurance that you will not try to make a horse's ass of yourself and pull some attention-whoring public spectacle of embarrassment for your 15 seconds of Fox News fame..."

Scott: (whatever answer he gave, the admins weren't convinced)

that led them to believe that he might, as you suggest, pull some kind of stunt that would embarrass the school. I'm not a big fan of school administrators or employers poring over people's social media account but since they obviously can (and do), they may have had good reason to suspect there might be a problem with him attending. Or maybe they just hate him because he's a conservative and is just another example of how conservatives are persecuted and "silenced" by President Obama and his Chicago thugocracy. I'm sure he will be on Fox News or another right-wing program to tell his side of the story at some point in the near future.

And just so that there is no confusion whatsoever about my last part..........

I bet he tells these kids all of Faux's lies as truth. And he tells the ones with facts, they are wrong, and possibly fails them, or scrutinize them more.

were "reviewed by the Secret Service". Which obviously means that the guy said something that could have been construed as a threat to the President. Something that in no way shape or form belongs in a classroom. And could be why he was "banned" from the speech.

Fucking Conservatives, all they did was fucking whine about "Respecting the office" when Bush was President...

"Because of the sensitivity surrounding the allegations regarding remarks that were made -- remarks that were reviewed by Miami-Dade schools police and the U.S. Secret Service -- the matter is currently under review," Miami-Dade County Public Schools spokesman John Schuster said. "The size and setup of the event venue did not permit all of the school's staff and students to attend, and local administrators were required to decide who would attend to represent the school."

Kinda reminds me of when I was sent to the Principal for not saluting the flag in 8th grade by my Social Studies teacher. Vietnam War and all that. Wearing bellbottoms even. So glad kids know what time it is in Florida where surely it's easier to keep a low profile.

as the "bogus POTUS." Other messages have a little more attitude. One recent Instagram upload is a CNN image of Russian tanks in the Ukraine, accompanied by the caption "Almost makes me want to be Russian. I guess their leaders have balls." He follows with his favorite saying: "Obama is a PUSSY" ... He sat in his classroom alone. Later, he wrote a letter to Marco Rubio and "every cool person at Fox News" asking for help. "This to me appears as a puerile attempt to discredit or embarrass me, quite possibly by school administrators, the Secret Service, or the President," the letter reads ...

Geeze, I almost never talk to my students about politics at all. I can't imagine being allowed to use the classroom as a daily soap-box for that kind of thing. Poor kids.

FL has very weak tenure laws, but this guy is a 15 year veteran. His supervisor sounds kind of lame, they announced the teacher couldn't attend the speech while the teacher was in front of his class. Not very professional. If they've been hand-waving his evals and letting kids suffer his personality in his class for 15 years, they have only themselves to blame.
