Kelly's lawyer was taking the position that the special committee had the power to grant immunity that would be binding on the US Attorney. There will be additional briefing on the immunity issue that will not be complete until March 24 which is the earliest that we can expect a ruling from the judge

If she knows that Crispy ordered this bridge closure or if he knew about it and lied -- she needs to do the right thing and tell us this. We can't have a guy like this run for the highest office in the land - if he was involved and lied about this. He needs to be stopped. Kelly needs to do the right and patriotic thing and not let this guy lie his way to the top.

If the Repubs were smart and they had any inkling that Crispy is involved in this - they would sandbag this guy too. It would not be good for the Repub Party to have this come out at a later date (and we know it would ultimately come out). They need to nip him in the bud right now.

I think she's such a ReTHUG goon that she doesn't understand the long term problems facing her and her children. Was Stepien the reason for her divorce?

I have seen her in it on TV several times. I really don't think it symbolizes anything other than she has makes interesting (not in a good way) fashion choices.

Stepien and Kelly? That hasn't occurred to me. I think they may be hiding some stuff, corruption type stuff, that no one has even thought of yet.

I don't care about their personal lives, but don't you think it would be odd to memorialize the relationship on a government computer?

The superintendent (married at the time) of the school district in a city near where I live had to resign because of steamy love letters sent on a school district computer. People can be so stupid.

I just thought they may both be hiding stuff related to the re-election and Bridgegate - who knows what they were up to - as good Christie tools.

yes, Stepien was the reason for her divorce, if you watch the raw feed of her going into the courthouse today, Critchley was asking her the names and ages of her children and what schools they went to for the benefit of the reporter's live mikes. She looks like she aged 20 years.

By the way, if you watched the court hearing, what was the discussion between Stepien's lawyer and Ms. Kelly after the hearing was over? They had a private conversation caught by the camera.

the coat was fuschia! I wonder how she has been managing financially? Her kids are all in catholic schools. Her ex-husband isn't a rich guy. Who's paying the mortgage and the tuition bills? (not to mention that Mike Critchley isn't exactly a cut-rate lawyer) She really looks like she's been at a two-month long funeral. I'd say she will be the first to crack.

at least not without immunity. She has a serious problem with Obstruction of Justice. They conspired to switch their communications on public matters to private e-mail accounts specifically to circumvent public disclosure rules. Critchley is in the prevent defense to let the U.S. Attorney catch up with the legislative committee so he can get real immunity for her.

to talk. She would probably be the most valuable. She has the knowledge of the inner sanctum. Critchley is as smart as they come and he has relationships with the career guys at the NJ U.S. Attorney's office. The legislative committee is a side show. The big development is going to be quiet and behind the scenes. Kelly is going to get squeezed because, in my opinion, they have her dead to rights on obstruction of justice. Critchley is going to try and play it for immunity to protect his client.

Critchley and Alan Zegas have been to a lot of dances together. They're going to do everything they can to protect their clients and they will coordinate their defenses to the greatest extent possible. Stepien's lawyer, Kevin Marino isn't a part of their club. That's why I thought it was interesting that he was whispering in Kelly's ear after the hearing today. The only thing that keeps Wildstein and Kelly out of trouble is turning and incriminating upwards. That means Baroni, Samson and Christie.

Critchley is going to get her out of this by making a deal. There are one or maybe two steps on the ladder between her and Christie. It either goes through Drewniak to Christie or Drewniak to O'Dowd to Christie. Critchley will cut his deal with the U.S. Attorney, not the committee. He's stalling the committee and positioning his client to deal. He knows that at a minimum she is guilty of Obstruction of Justice. Probably conspiracy to commit any of a half dozen other federal offenses. There's a raft of stuff out there that goes beyond the bridge that the U.S. Attorney's office is chomping at the bit to get at. They need the first domino to fall. Its going to be Kelly. They just have to get as much as they can before she flips because all kinds of things will happen once the deal is cut.
