Poll: Americans Say Sugar is More Harmful Than Marijuana

Which is more harmful to your health: sugar or marijuana? More Americans chose sugar, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released Wednesday.

When presented with a list of harmful substances, which included tobacco, alcohol, sugar and marijuana, only 8 percent chose marijuana, compared to 15 percent that chose sugar. 49 percent picked tobacco as the most harmful substance, and 24 percent chose alcohol.

The poll also found that young Americans have seen or heard more news about marijuana than Obamacare or the crisis in Ukraine. 57 percent of adults between 18 and 35 say they have “seen, read or heard a lot” of news about marijuana, compared to 44 percent who say they had read a lot about Obamacare, 39 percent about the Russian invasion into Ukraine and 34 percent who say they knew about courts overturning bans on gay marriage.

Which shouldn't be surprising, given that mountains lions eat more people than are killed by smoking pot.

It can make you stupid for a while, or sleepy, some people won't like it, it's not compatible with the higher math or serious software work (personal testimony), but it's not dangerous. You could be suffocated under a pile of it, I suppose.

with the media stereotypes, and they really do use it as medicine, not to get high. It all depends.

Or, rather, the façade of the same because their friends don't want the law to change.

Smith, that guy in Texas - moved to the science committee after he kept earlier leg. from leaving his office as head of the judiciary comte.

Actually, I'm happy to see so many Americans recognize reality in spite of all the propaganda for their entire lives.

Sugar is being added to too many products. I think it is an extender and cheaper than the real food that you think you are buying. Tasted tomato soup lately - the first spoonful you get that sweet sugar taste, the tang of tomatoes is totally lost. What about pork-n-beans, they are inedible because they are so sweet. If you get canned tomatoes, the plain ones are fine, but if you get a can that has something like roasted garlic or Italian herbs, sugar is always added. Lots of crackers and breads are way to sweet because of the sugar added. Flavored yogurt - it is sugar city! I always get plain and add some fresh chopped fruit (my favorite breakfast). I have been long concerned about the hidden sugar in supermarket foods, but don't know what to do about, other than making my meals from scratch which I do a lot of time.

Different things.

Rest assured that those who chose "sugar" will continue to use sugar for the rest of their lives. So will you.
