Malaysia Airlines flight MH370: clarifying conflicting media claims

If you are following this among all the confusion and paranoia, this article is interesting, and provides some reasons as to why people are reporting different things.

The engines were pinging the satellite for 4 hours after last contact.

All the reports have unconfirmed anonymous sources. That's not good as these things go.

When in the fuck is somebody going to go on the record?

Until that time, I will not believe a single thing I hear or read about this. Or, until they inevitably find the wreckage.

Those poor people worrying about their loved ones. This is being mishandled horribly. Instead of openness, there's secrecy. That helps nobody, especially those trying to find out what happened. I imagine that they are in the dark as well.
