While I believe that the anti-American rhetoric is sometimes over the top, your point about anti-Russian sentiment brings to mind a more general issue. When the USSR collapsed we had a perfect opportunity to promote world peace by embracing Russia as a friend.

But instead we rubbed their noses in it from that day forward. The end of the Cold War marked the beginning of a campaign to start it right back up again.

We have had a chance all along to unite our two countries and instead have squandered it. This approach was led by the usual suspects...mainly Cheney and the neocons..who incidentally are the main culprits pushing for US involvement in the Ukraine crisis.

the only nation i'm aware of that has policies that are actually quite different from the U.S.'s is Venezuela. by that i mean nationalized resource extraction firms who's profits benefit society as a whole instead of making five or six people unimaginably wealthy.

Let's assume that all things stated by the individuals intimated were correct and held the purest of waters. At any particular time have any of them actually elucidated a "next step"? I mean outside of "profligate concern" or "raising consciousness", what material solutions have they provided? I mean, these are the "big idea" people right? Well, "big ideas" get you attention, but the solution is in the details. Details? Clearly drudgework for lesser minds, I suppose.

And definitely require access to all sorts of information not typically available to the general public. There is no way to take the supreme court back anytime soon. We're all only human I think. The next step might get people off their butts

There is a large hatred for capitalism on DU, yet an informed capitalist society like in Germany or in the Nordic countries has proven to be the best applicable system in the history of humankind. What I want to see from Progressives is that they help seize the fucking initiative from super rich right wingers by taking control of capitalism and making it work for everyone in society. The best way to deal with the Kochs is to push those assholes o the sidelines by having more resources of all types than they have.
