MSNBC Host Touré Backs ‘Electable’ Hillary over ‘Inexperienced’ Elizabeth Warren

4:43 pm, March 17th, 2014

Contrary to his fellow host of The Cycle, Krystal Ball, MSNBC host Touré backed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to run for the presidency in 2016 over freshman Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). Touré said that Clinton has the requisite experience to be president and is more “electable” than Warren. Furthermore, he added, imposing a purity test on candidates is how the Democrats lost the presidential elections of the 1980s and why the Republican Party has recently been unable to recapture the upper chamber of Congress.

“I remember when Dems nominated true liberals and the smartest guys in the party, and the resulting years of losses,” Touré said. “So, I’m not ashamed to say I’m willing to sacrifice some of what I believe in as a liberal to get behind a moderate Dem who’s electable, and you should be, too.”

“The party should not be willing to risk a national election to see if the nation is ready for a liberal president,” he continued. “Something they haven’t even asked since [Walter] Mondale got crushed.

Touré called Warren an “inexperienced candidate who fits neatly into the classic caricature of Dems as effete latte-sipping, Volvo-driving, Ivy Leaguers”

Let all the candidates make their cases, and let the most convincing one win.

She ran all alone, and how she lost is a true mystery.
Those other people in that picture must be the sound people, or maybe they clean up after the event?

Gees! Why do people keep flapping their gums about her in 2016?

She wants to be a US Senator. That's why she ran for the office.

Or maybe it's a first name he lacks.

I don't take political advice from Cher, Beyonce, or Prince.

So I won't be paying attention to the recommendations of this pretentious doofus.

After 30 years of Reaganomics and neocon foreign pokicy, I thought it was finally our turn with the election of Barack Obama.

What a disappointment he's been. At least to me, anyway.

Is he infinitely better than McCain or Romney? Of course he is.

But I'm tired of voting for the evil of two lessers. Pulling the lever for Obama in 08 was the first time I voted enthusiasticallyfor a candidate since Mondale in 84 and McGovern in 72.

And he dropped the ball. I'm not gonna write a laundry list of the many instances where Obama has proven to be a disappointment to me. Nor am I going to write a list of his accomplishments, which are not insubstantial.

But, dammit, I want a real, genuine, dyed-in-the-wool take the fight to the bastards left wing radical liberal who acts like one in the WH.

And that's Elizabeth Warren. Or Bernie Sanders. Hell, I'd even settle for Sherrod Brown.

I don't really completely "blame" Obama for failing to move us forward as much as I had hoped and anticipated he would. I believe that if he had his druthers we would be in the process of implementing a single payer plan. And taking other meaningful progressive steps toward economic and social justice.

But he's had an obstructionist Congress to deal with and blue dogs to deal with before 2010. On top of that, he's had to be the Jackie Robinson of the presidency. Let things roll off his back I'm sure he would have liked to fight. It all adds up to a disappointing presidency, even if the shortcomings of this administration are largely understandable.

Come to think of it, would we have similar problems because Warren is a woman? That's a question I can't answer. But someone's gotta take the fight to the right. We can't keep walking on egg shells because the president's black, or a woman, or a socialist, or a...

once voters got to know her. Hillary is my choice, I think that she would be an excellent President, and more importantly, bring in our bench that has the Castro brothers, a Kennedy and others to run for President in 2024.
