Allowing citizens to have guns is a way to keep them controlled by giving them a false sense of freedom; if they kill each other every now and then it causes division and hatred; the people are so busy fighting each other they can't come together and focus on the real problem.

- There is a lot of information not yet public. May there is something there.
- Inadequate police investigation (intentionally or not)
- Grand Jury may no bill
- Petite Jury could acquit or deadlock

I don't see how any of those could happen, but they seem most likely of the reasons he could walk (in no particular order) that people are tossing around. My own pet theory is that he suicides.

But unfortunately, people like him don't tend to do such things.
