Little Girl Taken Out Of Christian School After Told She's Too Much Like A Boy

Timberlake, VA - Sports, sneakers, and short hair; it's what makes eight year old Sunnie Kahle unique. It's also what had her removed from Timberlake Christian School. Her grandparents pulled the plug on her time there after they said she was no longer welcome.

The family received a letter telling them that if their eight year old granddaughter didn't follow the school's "biblical standards," that she'd be refused enrollment next year. She's out and in public school now.

Sunnie Kahle has short hair and a huge heart, and as far as her grandparents are concerned, she is a completely normal little girl.

"She cries every morning to get on the bus, she cries when she comes home because she wants to go back to Timberlake Christian with her friends," said Doris Thompson.

for affirming her right to be who she is and for exposing the school's backward bigotry. I feel very sorry for Sunnie's sadness, confusion and sense of rejection. In the long run, she will be lucky to get out of their clutches before they can do any more damage. One wonders what kind of "education" they are providing. I seriously doubt that Sunnie and the other students would be given truthful information about science, American history, etc., at least insofar as it might be in conflict with the owners' personal biases.

and while dress code forced me into a dratted dress during school hours I couldn't wait for the freedom of petal pushers or shorts after hours. It was ridiculous to have to worry about skirts and its' frills or bend over to expose panties. Pants took care of that. We had short hair or pig tails. No one thought girls were boys. It simply made fashion sense. Mothers were in no hurry to wash and iron more dressed when simply pants would do. It was not a time of gay enlightment yet no one muttered about trying to sneak lesbian ways into an 8 yr old!

These people have no right to call themselves Christian. What is happening to these groups who are SO out of line with where the world is? They are no better than Phelps...certainly headed toward his beliefs and actions.

I hope Sunnie has the ability to throw off these stupid, arcane comments and they don't cause her mental anguish in the future. She looks like a little sweetheart and probably has a bigger/gentler heart than the adults. God love her.

Heh! I just looked up their website. They have a place to give "reviews."

I thanked them for excluding Sunnie and removing her from their hateful, poisonous environment so she can learn real love and real science. I also suggested that they give the rest of their students the boot, too, so they can have a chance a life.

"God hates little girls whose appearance doesn't meet our 'biblical standards'". Rest assured that the spirit of Fred Phelps is alive and well in Timberlake VA. How kind of school administrators in offering to let her complete the remainder of the school year, as a pariah and living example to others of "what not to be" (or else). And how very wise of her grandparents to quickly pull the girl out of that hellhole. The grandparents should sue the bejeezus out of the school for doing this.

Although she looks a few years younger, maybe.

If they were the same age and 20-30 ft away, I wouldn't be able to tell which was which.

(This was merely a surprised comment, not a statement of backing for anything the school did.)

At any rate, yet another reason why 'religious schools' are a bad idea.

I say that as someone who spent the first nine years of her education being indoctrinated in a Catholic school. I feel bad for this girl that she's being separated from her friends, and for the way the school has judged and treated her. But, after reading the article, and the general attitude of the school, I am glad she got out of there before all real damage is done. At least now, she stands a chance of learning how to think for herself, rather than being taught to just obediently adhere to everything that's fed to her.

Sunnie, you ROCK!

Timberlake Christian School is evil. Their Christ is a lie.

They judge, they scorn, they harm a little one over 'looks."

If the historical Jesus were real ( and fools like these prove he isn't ) they wouldn't let him in their school either.

HIs long locks would make him too "girlie."

Usually I just laugh at stupid Christians, but hurting a child just makes me wanna find Skittles and send her to VA, YES INDEED....
