A woman who, as a newborn, was abandoned as a baby in a Burger King bathroom says she has found her birth mother just three weeks after launching a search that garnered worldwide attention.
.........
Waldron told The Morning Call that the woman said that, as a teenager, she was raped while traveling abroad and became pregnant. The woman said she hid the pregnancy from her parents and, when she gave birth, felt she could not take her newborn to the hospital.
Waldron said the woman recently had launched her own search for the daughter she gave up.
Deprill said her mother expressed regret during their meeting. Deprill said she forgave her "110 percent, absolutely."

(12,977 posts)Deprill, known internationally as the "Burger King Baby," came face-to face with her birth mother Monday for the first time since Sept. 15, 1986, when the mother, then a scared teenager, left Deprill at the restaurant on South Fourth Street in Allentown.
"Oh my God, I'm so excited!" Deprill of South Whitehall Township said Tuesday. "I have literally not wiped the smile off my face. I never in a million years thought I'd find her."
"It's definitely the best scenario possible," Deprill said. "She's very normal. She's very sweet."
Deprill confirmed to The Morning Call that she had finally met her mother, in what she had hoped would be her last media interview. She said she's been blitzed by media requests since she took to Facebook on March 2, looking for her birth mother.

I'd have forgiven her completely, too.
No girl or woman should ever be shamed for sex, pregnancy, or childbirth.
Shame rapists, instead.

(60,212 posts)Babies can be left at (I think) fire departments and other places.
According to the website:
"From January 1, 2001, to September 30, 2013, 560 newborns have been surrendered in California, and as of September 30, 2013, 45 newborns have been surrendered in 2013."

(3,366 posts)She was a kid. Blaming HERSELF for having been raped. Facing this all alone. No matter that it may not have been horrible had she told someone. She was afraid. She did the best she could.
The mother, according to Waldron, said she gave birth in her bedroom at age 17 without her parents' knowledge and drove to Burger King to drop off the baby, knowing the restaurant would be crowded and someone would find the infant.
"She kissed the baby on the forehead and left," Waldron said. "She was a kid in high school. Back then, you couldn't just go to a hospital and drop the baby off, no questions asked.
"It wasn't, 'I don't want the child.' It was because of what happened. Sometimes rape victims blame themselves even though they're not at fault."
