Church Stages "Mock Kidnapping" of Youth Group

to show them how bad missionaries and x-tians have it overseas.

This is just unbelievable, if it was one of my kids I'd be hard pressed not to beat the living shit out of the good ol' pastor, then again my kids wouldn't be caught dead with this crowd.

In my opinion there was nothing Mock about this kidnapping. They took these people without their permission or the permission of their parents. There should be some jail time coming but these wacked out fundies usually manage to squirm their way out of any responsibility.

"A southeastern Pennsylvania church subjected members of a youth group to a mock kidnapping and interrogations without telling them it was staged, and the outraged mother of one 14-year-old girl has filed a complaint with police.
Only on msnbc.com

The pastor of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Middletown said the church is "so saddened" that the girl was traumatized at the Wednesday evening youth meeting.

But the pastor, John Lanza, said Friday there have been emails of support from other students at the church, about 10 miles southeast of Harrisburg, because the intent was to prepare them for what they might encounter as missionaries. He didn't disclose the names of those involved but said the mock kidnappers included an off-duty police officer and a retired Army captain.

"It was a youth event, to illustrate what others have encountered on a regular basis," he said, adding that the focus of the lesson was "the persecuted church" in other countries."

Can't any real kidnappers simply use that as an excuse when they get caught? Oh, what are these children doing here, officer? Uhhh, you see, I was just mock kidnapping them. Don't worry, I'd never REALLY kidnap them. What a fucking joke. They should be locked up.

fact that the youths were kidnapped, which is a crime, how was this event supposed to help the kids stay safe in other countries? I don't get it.

at msnbc you will find at least one person who is commenting about the persecution of Christians coming soon to the U.S. This whole exercise only reinforces that kind of thinking which, I believe, is part of the intention.

If they hold with what I know about other AOG congregations they're pretty much full time fundy victims of one evil secular scheme or another.
