I'm not sure I've seen a dumber person than Jenny-Beth just on Tweety's show

Mary Betty, Jenny Bett, I don't know or care WTF her name is. She is an embarrassment to humanity. She tried to argue that no one should be required to purchase health care insurance, because anyone can get at any time. She pointed out that she went without health insurance for years, and when she had to go the doctor or the ER, they always took care of her, whether or not she had insurance. So, you see, everyone in America has access to health care.

Tweety and Dr. Emannual tried to point out to her that SOMEONE (read: everyone else) was paying for her FREE health care, but she didn't buy it...no, she got taken care of because doctors take an oath to treat patients.

REALLY? REALLY? Is this what we're debating? Stupid fucking idiots vs. everyone else? How did this women get her 5 minutes of fame on Tweety's show? How is she considered a spokesperson for anything but brick-stupid idiocy? AARRRGGGHHHH!

Excuse me while my heart explodes...I'll send the bill to Ms. Stupid and say my health care was "Free."

I have an idiot brother who is also against healthcare reform. He even boasted that while he was unemployed he was treated for free when he broke his leg. Tried to tell him that it wasn't free- that we all pay for it---but as many people have said, there is no cure for "the stupid"

when you need it just because you walked into a hospital.

Not all hospitals have the ability to care for a person in every emergency state. I know a nurse whose hospital is being sued over a patient death after they finally were able to transfer her out of their small hospital. The patient was uninsured, and they took her, then determined she needed more advanced care that they couldn't provide. It took the better part of a day for them to find a hospital that would take her. She died a day or two after the move to the more advanced facility.

And of course PREVENTATIVE care, which keeps you out of the hospital a lot, cannot be had at the ER.

You can always expect the Republican position to be based on the least amount of evidence and often on erroneous views of what the evidence is or what it says. This tea party rep was a case in point. Utterly uninformed about how care is financed for those unable to pay. If you ask many of the conservatives you live and work with how this is financed, they may have the same answers she just did.

My father died of colon cancer. I was 45 at the time and went to see my doctor for a good physical. He said I was looking good and that at age 50 he would want a colonoscopy done.

I turned 50... went in and said let's do it. He scheduled the procedure and to my shock my insurance company had refused to pay saying I didn't have any symptoms. My doctor couldn't believe it. I am at high risk because of my father having colon cancer and here is another example of the insurance company playing doctor again overriding my doctors opinion that I should have this preventative treatment done.

20. This arguement that you can get treated even if you don't have insurance is BOGUS!
Mon Mar 26, 2012, 07:47 PM

My brother was at a clinic to see a doctor for starting radiation treatments for his brain tumor. He had great insurance that is not the issue here. While waiting for his appointment, a man in a wheelchair is pushed in by his wife. He asked to see the doctor for radiation treatments for his cancer. The receptionist told him that they couldn't help him. He left dejected and clearly losing any hope for help. After he left .. my sister talked to the receptionist who confirmed my sisters feelings that he was denied care because he didn't have insurance.

On the other end of the scale my brother as I stated earlier had great coverage. His treatments were going to run about $50,000 aweek for the next 6 months or so. These treatments weren't to cure him.. they were just to extend his life for a month or two. When asked how long these treatments would last the doctor said until he passes.

The doctor wanted to start treatments immediately, that day! My brother had 2nd thoughts about it and said he wanted to get his teeth fixed first. You see just b4 he was diagnosed with cancer he had made arrangements to get all of his teeth fixed. For those that have had teeth issues this was a huge thing. He had been ashamed to smile and laugh... so to fix his teeth was a priority. The doctor said he wouldn't be able to start treatments until after his teeth were fixed and my brother said "I am getting my teeth fixed first!" The doctor was beside himself. He left the room in a huff... he could see all that easy money going out the window. It made me sick to know he turned away a man needing treatment and here my brother who really shouldn't have been a candidate for treatments because of the stage his cancer, would have been given 6 months or more of radiation and chemotherapy to extend his life for a few more weeks. In the meantime suffering from the effects of radiation and chemo the entire time. He didn't live long enough to get his teeth fixed nor get those $50,000 radiation treatments. As a family we were sad but also relieved he didn't suffer any longer than he already had.

Our system is a sham.

Lastly... a friend of mine had a father that needed a heart/lung transplant. He had insurance but the deductible was tens of thousands of dollars for this type of surgery. The family begged as many families in America have to for money to save their loved one's life. Fund raisers .. bake sales.. cans on grocery store counters... finally after months of hard work to raise the $40,000 needed to pay their "fair" share. The proper donor was found for the father... the family was excited as their dreams of saving their father was finally going to happen. He was flown to Pennsylvania where the surgery was going to take place and while there just a day b4 surgery, the father finally couldn't hang on any longer and died. It was heartbreaking to the family. To all those that worked so hard to save this good man or at least give him a few more years to enjoy with his lovely family. But because of our screwed up system which is based on healthcare for profit... this is the kind of care we can expect.

It's a ludicrous that people have to beg to save a loved one's life. It's one of America's biggest shames...

After listening to Tweety today I feel the need to see it explained as a 7/11 ~ Elementary School Level.

The lady that was screaming had to be told that because she didn't have the $$'s to pay for her treatment the dr.hospital had to do cover the Bill.

There must be an ABC way to help erveryone get it .

But what about something that requires prolonged treatment or expensive testing and medicine. I don't think the emergency room will provide medical equipment, either, if you happen to need crutches or a walker or oxygen.

You're correct, she's pretty stupid. Unfortunately, she has a lot of company.

How nice. If I went into a diabetic coma without insurance I am sure they would help me. But sorry, there are no free samples of insulin there. Maybe at the Dr.'s office, if you are lucky. Idiot. Emergency rooms are for emergencies, not for preventive health care and not for people that have long term chronic diseases!
