Boise, Idaho (CBS SEATTLE) An Idaho state trooper arrested and fully searched a 70-year-old Washington mans vehicle solely because he had a Colorado license plate a state where marijuana is legal a federal license plate profiling lawsuit alleges.
Darien Roseen was driving along I-84 between his second home in Colorado and Washington state on Jan. 25 when Idaho State
Trooper Justin Klitch immediately pulled out from the Interstate median and began rapidly accelerating to catch up to Roseen, according to the complaint in a Courthouse News Service report. Exiting at a designated rest area, Roseen says he became uncomfortable that Klitch had followed him though he not done anything wrong.
After pulling Roseen over, Klitch reportedly failed to explain why he made the stop, although he later said he made the stop because Roseen failed to use his signal when pulling off on the exit, and because he bumped the curb. Klitch rejected Roseens reason for pulling into the rest area, telling him, You didnt have to go to the bathroom before you saw me Im telling you, you pulled in here to avoid me.
The complaint states that Klitch asked Roseen why his eyes appeared glassy, while failing to ask him for his proof of insurance, registration, or returning to his vehicle to verify Roseens license. He then accused Roseen of having something in his vehicle that he should not have.

(25,939 posts)No pun intended (well, maybe a little). It must be stopped forthwith, however, and I'm glad it's being addressed in federal court instead of a piecemeal state-by-state approach.

(51,076 posts)maybe dumb and full of stupid but the better sense in me says that it would not be a good thing for me to drive to Denver and score some smoke and think I could make it back to OK without a hitch.
I quit smoking due to my lungs so I have no want/need for weed anymore so doing that is out anyway.

(14,857 posts)to score some smoke and brought it back, this particular pig wouldn't have bothered you. This guy didn't do that. The pig went after this person because the car had Colorado plates.
My dispensary cannot keep these in stock.

And edibles, too. Oh my! Brownies, chocolate bars, toffee candy, caramels,
BTW, I read one of our neighboring states said they were going to watch the state border along Colorado. Can't recall if it was OK or KS.

(36,470 posts)My dispensary give you a free charger if you buy two cartridges. The 250 size is $35 & the 500 size is $60. The charger plugs into USB port. The buzz is a little different, but the flavor is unbelievable & so much easier on the lungs! They come in sativa, indica or hybrid. Very discreet, too. It looks like a pen & puts out no smell.
Order one online?

(22,271 posts)people are crazy to drive around with pot, ESPECIALLY if you're going through, shall we say, one of the "non-enlightened" states. You see what can happen when somebody who doesn't even partake in the ganja, what the hell would they do if you were actually holding -- death penalty? Screw it. It's just not worth it.

(4,458 posts)Suspicion of cannabis possession based merely upon a License plate? That is some chilling stereotyping.....
And It's been happening to medical cannabis patients in Oregon for Years now.
Legal Discriminatory practices are expanded to include way more minority groups than just LGBT/Minorities/Women etc--Welcome to a new American Era!
It seems obvious to me--once we drop the "limitations and confines" of Who is discriminated against and dismiss how We are "supposed" to view this practice.
A license plate does not establish reasonable suspicion, imo.
In this mans case, it's prejudice based upon a desperate attempt to maintain the very foundation of the War on Drugs that enable the "New Jim Crow II". That was the sole intent of cannabis prohibition in the first place and now is apparently ensnaring Everyone. Plus-We're talking serious federal money they're (Public Safety Orgs) about to lose...since Nixon we've spent nearly $2 Trillion tax dollars on the WoD's with the majority of money invested for Cannabis Eradication. That's a lot of money going to protect society from something that causes no harm.
Imo.
