(111,359 posts)They finally did one that was so over the top that maybe something can be done.
Why the hell they sent SWAT cops out there for a guy illegally camping is beyond me. Why some asshole lobbed a flash-bang grenade at a guy who had picked up his stuff and was coming down peacefully really, really needs to be looked at. The cop who started shooting has been fired.
The asshole with the grenade needs to be put into stocks outside the courthouse.
Boyd was not a nice guy, had a long rap sheet for violent stuff as well as a bunch of petty crap the homeless often get popped for. He didn't deserve any of this.
Militarized police are becoming a bigger threat to public safety than the criminals are.
There was a huge protest here that went on for a full 12 hours. People here have had it with Robo Cop.

(1,508 posts)It was that good of a show.
Fair enough on the other point. It's beyond a disgrace no doubt, it's a travesty. Disgusting beyond description.

(8,554 posts)at least now the Albuquerque PD might become the latest department to be the proud recipients of a federal investigation. Maybe they'll get "reformed" like Seattle cops. (And add a slight sarcasm tag to my final sentence.)

(19,926 posts)I just saw yesterday's Last Word and that was horrific!
This is happening far too often. What the hell were they afraid of? A fucking knife in his hand??? He was coming down. They had how many guys with assault rifles or whatever they were... they can't just hold back and have him in their sights while someone writes him a ticket?
I can't imagine illegal camping is an arrestable offense.

(8,554 posts)Another protest last Sunday went on the entire day and into the night...if you watch some of those vids at YouTube, the march was mainly an orderly and peaceful one but didn't end so well; after a couple of stand-offs, the APD busted several people, tear gas and clubs. And Anonymous hacked the copshop's website, ha!
