One thing people forget about the ACA Supreme Court decision last year is that it allowed states to opt out of Medicaid expansion. This will have DEADLY consequences for people who live in those states.
Why did GOPers in those states opt out of Medicaid expansion even though the cost would be covered by the feds and it would greatly reduce the number of uninsured in those states?
Because....Obama.
Study: Thousands Of People Will Die In States That Don't Expand Medicaid

As many as 17,000 Americans will die directly as a result of states deciding not to expand Medicaid under Obamacare, according to a new study.
Researchers from Harvard University and City University of New York have estimated that between 7,115 and 17,104 deaths will be "attributable to the lack of Medicaid expansion in opt-out states" in a study published in Health Affairs.
"The results were sobering," Samuel Dickman, one of the authors, said, according to the Morning Call. "Political decisions have consequences, some of them lethal."
They projected that 423,000 fewer diabetics would receive medication to treat their disease. If opt-out states had expanded Medicaid, 659,000 women who are in need of mammograms and 3.1 million women who should receive regular pap smears would have become insured, the study found.
"Low-income adults in states that have opted out of Medicaid expansion will forego gains in access to care, financial well-being, physical and mental health, and longevity that would be expected with expanded Medicaid coverage," the authors wrote.

(31,241 posts)It's the reason we can't get an immigration bill. It's the reason they're trying to gut food programs that benefit the poor. And the sickest of all is what is stated in your o.p.
I can't believe that faced with all that, we continue to let divisive forces drive a wedge between the most reliable Democratic constituencies. This used to be a place for activism. These days it's just a DUmping ground for enemies of the president and the Democratic Party, and it is intended to demotivate and demoralize. One has to ask oneself who benefits from that division? I'm sure the answer won't be a surprise to anyone.

The president needs to take the lead on these call-outs. So do Reid and Pelosi and Carney. Use their party affiliation. Use the words citizens will die.
