I can't say it's terribly surprising given where the country is today. And it probably doesn't hurt that there's a Democratic president. But still ... Harvey Milk commemorated on a US Postage stamp.

I saw the movie starring Sean Penn and thought it was excellent.
I remember when he and Mayor Moscone were assassinated by Dan White. It was very close in time to the Jim Jones mass suicide in Guyana. Very strange times. The Peoples' Temple is mentioned in the movie.
There is also a biography of Harvey Milk, called "The Mayor of Castro Street".
