Is this a good idea? I don't watch late-night talk shows, but I wonder. His 'charm' is his political stuff, isn't it?

I certainly hope so....but I don't stay up that late....and we'll miss him!
Maybe now he can edu the older crown as to the nation's right wingnuts!

(62,465 posts)If he sticks with the political I would suspect his Corporate bosses would be on his ass right at the start.
If he changes into a different personna will his current fans stick with him? Are they the audience CBS wants?
It will be an interesting experiment no matter what. I believe that with Colbert's reputation there will be lots of interest at first to see which way it goes.
Had it been O'Brien or Craig Ferguson etc. everyone would have a pretty good idea what was coming. This is sure going to pique interest

(243 posts)because the republicans are too stupid to know that he's satire. Some of them think he's "one of them." I'd LOVE to have him take over for Letterman--as long as that creepy little musician guy doesn't stay on the show.
