I liked this because it broke up the staid ritual of weddings that can make them seem so joyless. I had some hesitation because I wondered if he took the focus from the marriage.
All in all, I decided that it made the occasion much more memorable and priceless.

(12,017 posts)if 'funeral' is what you took from this... and it's not a dollar sign. if you don't know what something is you could do a little research instead of making crass comments.

(12,017 posts)because that's not what your post implied. i have been to a few boring wedding ceremonies... and i have been to some that were a party. this priest brought tears of joy and laughter and made a memory for the attendees and for that bride and groom that will last forever and be talked about and replayed in their minds (and probably on DVD players) for years to come. i would say this wedding was anything BUT a funeral.

(17,111 posts)I now find myself going to weddings, funerals and a few other occasions that are for people who mean a lot to me. I have seen my share of funerals and weddings.
This made me smile because it was such a delightful surprise that made the occasion memorable. Too many ceremonies only use the rites that have been part of these moments forever.
I thought this was not only unusual but also a way to really bring joy to all the people there. IMO joy needs to be in much more abundance in ceremonies about love.
