(233 posts)What else would it mean?

(38,613 posts)I love the skits she does with Jason
Hip_Flask
(233 posts)I have only seen her in individual skits recently and found them "meh".
I am a casual Daily Show fan at best and only suggest that it seems that she used to be better/funnier in her earlier years.
laundry_queen
(8,646 posts)omfg 'cause Colbert is a hunk.

(47,209 posts)this is why TV and movies suck, idiots who want to look at hot looking people because smart jokes fly over their pointy heads.
"idiots who want to look at hot looking people because smart jokes fly over their pointy heads."
i notice he wasn't even able to explain his comments and bring up actual criticisms of her as people do when discussing someone like LEno and why so many don't like him.
Hip_Flask
(233 posts)It's a subjective opinion....
As for 'specific criticisms', there aren't any other than what I already said.
She is meh... Average.. OK...
I think she used to be better than she is now. I don't understand the sensitivity to the fact that I am not as enamored with Samantha Bee as you all seem to be.

Worth a try, I guess.

(3,447 posts)She's funny and talented, no doubt about it, but those are some hard shoes to fill. Maybe if it was a whole new show/concept. I don't think anyone can really make the premise of the show carry on any longer as-is, though.

(100,079 posts)I think he could carry the torch for Colbert, but Samantha Bee would be a great host too.
Retrograde
(10,137 posts)And bring back Wyatt Cenac and have a panel-hosted show.

(1,741 posts)I could see him hosting. Samantha Bee isn't my favorite. She makes me uncomfortable. I actually prefer her husband Jason Jones; he plays a perfect jerk. Wyatt Cenac never did much for me. I also like Aasif Mandvi, Jessica Williams, and, of course, John Oliver.
greatlaurel
(2,004 posts)Her bits are amazing. She makes me cringe all the time, but so does Colbert. That is the point, they are using art to point out ignorance of all kinds. Her bit on erectile dysfunction was hilarious, cringe inducing and highly informative all mixed together in one skit. She is great and would be a huge hit, as long as they let her do her show, not a carbon copy of Colbert.
I think Jessica Williams would be another top candidate for a show. She is tremendously talented and so very smart. I do not know why she has not been snapped up by a producer for a project, long before this. Just goes to show how stupid most people in that business really are. I love it when Stewart has Ms. Williams on. If I were a producer, I would have her agent on speed dial for proposals.
DanTex
(20,709 posts)In fact, all of the Daily Show correspondents are much less funny now than back in the day with Stephen Colbert, Steve Carrell, Rob Corddry, etc.
bigwillq
(72,790 posts)Is she on Colbert's show?
I rarely watch Colbert show.
SoCalDem
(103,856 posts)and give more time to others on the show..
That would be the easiest to do and would give them time to flesh out something that would last.. The whole Colbert Show was a Kismet thing after O'Reilly started slamming Colbert.. I cannot see too many people being able to carry off a show like it, and anyone who tried would endlessly be compared to him.

(8,660 posts)KamaAina
(78,249 posts)that way they wouldn't have to turn almost the whole show over to a big interview catch like Michelle Obama.

(1,508 posts)I don't find her funny. There's no way she could replace Colbert.
WhaTHellsgoingonhere
(5,252 posts)She's hardly on the Daily Show whereas John Oliver hosted the show for a month! If Jon Stewart wanted to hone her chops he would have given her a week, at least. Of course, that ASSUMES she has any interest in hosting, and that's a HUGE ASSUMPTION!

(14,733 posts)The newer female addition to the cast, Jessica Williams, is far more entertaining.
Half-Century Man
(5,279 posts)Love to see it thought.
Ms Bee's timing and delivery are near picture perfect. But with SC taking the majority of the writing staff with him, Comedy central might have issues filling so many positions so quickly.
Add to that she will need to present a workable format to the executives.
Maybe a female aligned show split between Samantha Bee and Jessica Williams. The 51% who get 77% of the credit due.
Dirty Socialist
(3,252 posts)A spoof of Fox & Friends. Maybe Bee could be the blonde bimbo.

Daily Show is only 4 days a week so he could do both if HBO contract permits.
