Or, so Boudicca's body language would lead me to believe.

(56,177 posts)Ever try it with a kitten...catnip scares the heck out of them...they don't like it until they're older...

(50,559 posts)I had a kitten who loved catnip from the time he was three weeks old. He was a very advanced kitten, tho: the little bastard managed to climb out of a cat bed with 6" high sides when he was two days old, he buried the first solid food we ever gave him and he got on the bed before his first week was out.
The biggest problem with his eyes-still-closed exploring was that he was the same color as the carpet and I am very nearsighted.

(111,267 posts)My own tortie is pushing 21 and I'll have to stop by The Herb Store in a couple of weeks and get some of the new stuff. It's one of her few pleasures.

(26,266 posts)I think around 6. She was in a hoarder/drug addict's house and was nearly feral when we rescued her. Now she's about as domesticated as a cat can be. And, yea, she's got true tortietude.

(111,267 posts)It was five years before she'd let me pet her head if she saw my hand coming. She still flinches just a little bit until she knows for sure it's pets and not a blow.
Calicos and torties are always wild women. I've always loved them best.

(1,307 posts)of almost 18 finds catnip too strong for him now - he squints his eye at its smell and moves away, like he's smelling toothpaste. Has anyone else's old cat given up the grass?

(111,267 posts)and on a good day, she'll roll in it. It no longer makes her nuts.
She only wants it every 5 days or so. If I put it out sooner, she ignores it.

My poor buddy is struggling with his addiction. Now with this stronger stuff on the street, he'll sink deeper into his downward spiral.
He's ok off the stuff, but you've never seen Samuel L. Katson on a full blown bender. He once destroyed a hotel room in Las Vegas with Benicio del Toro.

(26,266 posts)The lid flew off and there was an almost perfect circle of catnip, in the middle of the floor, and two cats COATED in the herb. I probably should have held an intervention, right then and there, but it was too funny. Again, I enable. Shame on me.

(26,266 posts)It's hard to deny anything to such fluffy, sweet faces. Plus, I suspect they practice mind control.
