I hate to say this but Trayvon Martin is Saving Rush Limbaugh, and it SUCKS.

They pivoted from the war on women to a race war.

Pretty successfully.

those who keep him where he is. One of these days though it's going to be one more ugly tirade too many. I really thought this would be the one but it got co-opted by the Martin story. Lucky for Rush this time, but if there is justice in this world his luck has to run out one day.

Just read some of the comments he's said about Treyvon - every bit as offensive as the shit he was saying about Sandra Fluke.

he would not be Rush. Rush has always been a racist anyway. So, I don't think it is fair to say he is pivoting, he is just going to one of his other odious long held positions.

Rush has acted like this for over 20 years. They were just concerned about the amount of bad publicity this incident created in a demographic that could hit them where it counted. Once it blew over and people focused on something else they'd slink back. If it wasn't this case it would have been something else.

This has been going on for so long that they're used to it, so the important thing about the slut-spew is that is slapped them in the face and reminded them that they could get bitten in ways they don't want to deal with. It was also a wake-up call to people who don't listen to him about just how free-flowing his bile can be.

I would have been pleasantly surprised if this had really brought him down, but it did wound him, and made it a lot less likely that he'll get yet another pass the next time he's at it. At least on this subject; he'll get passes for others.
