John and Tara Allen's home was a mess Tuesday after being broken into by a burglar, but they were counting their blessings.
That's because their 12-year-old daughter, Katelyn, was safe despite being at home during the break-in.
The girl, a sixth-grader at Westbrook Elementary School, was home on spring break.
About 10:30 a.m., she heard a loud bang at the back door. She grabbed her cellphone, locked herself in the bathroom and called 911.

Those things can be annoying in public places sometimes, but they really come in handy in emergencies.

Why put her photograph in the newspaper? This miscreant is still out there and quite frankly, a run-of-the-mill burglar generally grabs the stuff and flees if someone's at home and he didn't realize it (should that have been he or she?). This individual saw fit to go after a resident of the house which puts him in another category AFAIC.

was good for her. It could have very easily been a rape and murder case had he known she was in there. Very lucky!

She could have killed someone like God intended. Wait, this wasn't in Florida. Never mind.
