K & R if you've ever been suspended, smoked weed, or were tardy to class.

Last edited Wed Mar 28, 2012, 11:48 AM - Edit history (1)

Apparently these are justification if you are shot and killed.

Edit to add:

Why I was never suspended in high school.

My Mama taught where I went to high school and junior high.
Anything and everything could and was reported to her. It was stifling.

She so wanted me to have a boyfriend that if I was even seen having a conversation with a male friend, she blew it up into a Harlequin worthy story. When we visited relatives, it was the first thing out of her mouth. She so wanted a dainty lady as a daughter. I knew i didn't measure up, and that she was really ashamed of me.

It was embarrassing for me and humiliating. I learned very quickly to watch what I did and where when I was at school. I was a master at the under-the-breath comment in class. I could disrupt an entire class and never be caught. They knew I was up to something but they never could prove anything.

College was a different story. I almost got expelled my first semester.

BTW My Mama delivered the coup de grace when I was leaving after visiting her on a vacation. I was walking out of the door and she said,"I will never forgive you for not having my grandchild!" then she kind of laughed and backed off. She meant it! And she wondered why I was reluctant to go home.

What fun!

But no one ever suspected. I looked innocent, was never tardy, and never got into fights.

on something very important here. As I understand it, Zimmerman's father is a retired judge. That means if he is like most retired judges, he has a lot of money in the bank, as well as a lot of people who owe him favors. Can it be any wonder then that the Sanford pigs "botched" their investigation of the crime, failed to significantly interrogate Zimmerman, and have also thus far not seen fit to in any way hold or arrest him?

And what about the mysterious "friend" of Zimmerman's, Joe Oliver, who claims to be so moved by his "friendship" with Zimmerman that he has quit his job (leaving him no means of support) to go out to the media in support of his "wronged friend"? Surely some mysterious benefactor must be somehow channeling money to him which permits him to sustain his existence, and probably a lot more.

This entire situation reminds me of another very similar incident that happened back in the 1960's. I know of it only from a ballad about it that was written by another person whose name is Zimmerman. I am referring to Robert Zimmerman (Bob Dylan) who wrote the song, "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll.

Listen and see if you don't see a lot of the things happening so far in this current debacle that are surprisingly similar to the story that is told in Dylan's ballad.

I've never smoked weed (or tobacco), but I have been late to classes, bunked off classes altogether and been suspended for other bad behaviour. I was pretty obnoxious as a teenager, though fortunately I'm white, so it wasn't a capital offence.

I would like to see Faux News shut down for good!!! Every time I see a clip from that show, it just makes me sick!

I did everything wrong in High School, way worse than what this poor child did! But as someone said so well a few posts up......... I was born white!

Hate to admit that, but it is so true. America is still very racist, although they pretend not to be. I have seen them, you've seen them..... they are the ones that you will see interact with a person of color, no, I shouldn't say that, because that implies all races; Asian, Indian etc.... racist with them also, but it is worse with the African American. When a racist interacts with a black man/woman, they pretend to act all equal, and act hip in front of them. But watch how they act when they are with their friends. N this... N that... Nothing worse than to see people like that in action ........ I absolute despise those kinds of behaviors.

Says he's Christian but I'll kiss his ass if he lives his life like one. Don't like Blacks, Mexicans, Indians, hell even the wrong kind of bird that feeds at his bird feeder and its bam, bam

I'm none religious and I'd bet good money that if there is a heaven I'll get closer to it than he will. I live my life like a religious person should or according to their bible that is.

We're tinkerers in kind but its getting harder and harder to go around him due to this hypocrisy
I have no problem with a religious person if they truly are what they say but when they are for expediency sake then not so much.

When I was in high school and was just a junior, the chemistry teacher shut the door when it was time to start class because the bell system was broken and the principal didn't have the funds to fix it.
So, when I opened the door to go into class during the 2nd week of school, the teacher told me to never open the door to his classroom again once it was shut.
He said that once that door was shut, that his class began and he told me to never interrupt his class again.
I told him that I was sorry, I didn't know that, and he started to berate me right in front of the entire class.
He said that if we didn't make it to his class on time, tough.
He said that he didn't count students in his class as tardy, they were either present or absent.
Needless to say, he wasn't too popular.
Good teacher, but no personality.
He reminded me of Mr. Hand in the movie "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".

Oddly, though I was always on time.
Big question whether I would be allowed to graduate in the big ceremony or not despite being ranked high in the class.

I never started a food fight. I sure as hell finished one, though

I've heard it is extremely difficult to get blackberry cobbler out of ones blond hair. I'm a blond, too, but I wasn't the one that experienced that particular joy. The blue cheese dressing and lettuce was bad enough.

This wasn't at school, though, just my cousins and my sister LOL at a family reunion. My sister and I are lucky we survived that one, and we are lucky we had a mother with a sense of humor. She was impressed with the blackberry cobbler after she got over being mortified with the heathens she raised LOL!

But I know how to be late. I was a good student, too, I just couldn't seem to get there on time.

I got suspended in junior high because I poked holes in the plates and made dribble cups for some fundraising dinner the school was having. I didn't do it to all of them, just some of them, and the results were hilarious enough to me at that time that I gave myself away. Three of us went down for that one, though I must say with pride, it was my idea

Got kicked out of class once because one of my friends and I got the giggles and couldn't stop,
but the prof. was not too hard on us since it was his weed we had smoked at lunch.
Was threatened by suspension if I ( and 1,000s of others) walked out of the Univ. in an anti-war protest.
We walked, no suspension.
I am sure there were other incidents, but my memory is hazy, for some reason.

Three times for arguing in class and telling my teacher to fuck off (or something similar) and once for skipping a club meeting and telling the teacher that found my friends and me roaming the halls to fuck off. I had issues with authority. Of course this all went down on my permanent record. I have struggled ever since to overcome the shame.
