There is great value in pointing out RW hypocrisy. Since, you know, we are awash in RW hypocrisy.

I'm curious as to what part of the country most of these benefits were used in. I don't know if the U.S. military is the same as the Canadian, but up here we get what's called "Post living differential" so people who are posted to a much higher COL area get extra money compared to those in lower-cost regions.
