And many real healthcare providers won't tell you how much for surgery up front. Not the point, I know.

(564 posts)Or did they just spew their impotent rage at the unlucky cashier or stocker who happened to pick up the phone? This shit is why I hate retail. I can understand the anger at Hobby Lobby, but chewing store employees isn't going to change anything, and just makes you look like a self righteous douche-bag. Don't bitch at the employees. They don't care. They don't get paid enough to care. They don't necessarily agree with upper managements ideas and policies.

(31,849 posts)I doubt if any "call" was made.

(564 posts)It was a knee jerk reaction on my part, but I still feel very strongly about this sort of thing, and so many people see nothing wrong to being an asshole to your average minimum wage clerk.

(564 posts)I do want to clarify, that I am saying from the point of view of someone that has worked retail, and has had to deal with people doing things like in the OP's picture.
That's what angers me. I guess my last two posts weren't well worded.

(3,233 posts)"self righteous douche-bag"?
"bitch at the employees"?
YOU seem to have a lot more venom than anything in the OP. Some people, even the "unlucky cashier or stocker who happened to pick up the phone" (if it ever even happened), have intelligence and a sense of humor. Employees are paid to deal with "this shit" and to field questions, comments, and complaints from customers and even potential customers. It's their job to pass this info along to management. I have boycotted this business for more than a year now, and have corresponded with the corporate representative before doing so. Not going back.

(5 posts)The actual employees of Hobby Lobby, like the actual employees of Chick Fil A, DO NOT make policy. They are not the ones suing the government over the ACA. The girl behind the counter is not telling the employees that their health care is against their religion.
Calling them, does no good, and makes you look like a moron. Calling the members of the board, the share holders, and the owners of the company, that's a different story.

(4,192 posts)They get to make decisions that screw us over and then get the workers on the front line to handle all of the consequences. What do the execs care if the only consequence to their inhumane decisions is an increased profit margin. They don't deal with the people whose lives they make miserable.
So the question is, where do you take complaints?

(5,023 posts)It's kind of a nitpicky point anyway. Like saying the headline of the meme is dumb. It's written to make a point not really to be taken literally. Do you really think you can "call" the members of the board and the owners? If you did, I think that might also make the callers look like morons... it's not like they are going to change their religious or political beliefs based on a cold call from a stranger... but who knows, maybe you're right, I don't understand how their brains are wired.

(32,861 posts)Why are your corporate leaders trying to force their religious beliefs into the healthcare of female employees of Hobby Lobby?
