WBC Protesters Flee the University of Massachusetts As Anti-Protest Brings in Several THOUSAND

Crosspost from LGBT Group

The gathering was sparked by anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church. Westboro church leaders had sent out a message via Twitter that they planned to come to town to protest last week’s announcement by UMass basketball player Derrick Gordon that he is gay, the first such revelation by a Division 1 men’s college basketball player.

Ok all of that.... and this is all they can muster??

How pathetic. Love always wins... And we're well supported...

As the protestors lined up across the street from the WBC, their car came in, swept them up and the WBC ran like the cowards they are.

Went to many "sweatbox affair" parties ("10 pm till 5 in the morning&quot in that Student Union building.

Good to see they ran those miscreants off campus!

Marston. They were just moving it to Campus Center when I graduated.

Nothing more stress-inducing than going through the sequences for turning off that old transmitter if no one was on after you.

and they are doing alot of building though (saw there was a new "honors" residential area)... I probably wouldn't half recognize the place now although I suppose going up Route 9 towards the campus, you probably still can't miss the cows and the library popping up like weeds out of nowhere.

It's like a small city dropped in the middle of the boondocks. Couldn't believe it when I first saw it years ago. It was nice to hang out at the Blue Wall.

Now, I mean? It was an active place when I was there. If you wanted someting bigger you would have to drive down to the Holyoke Mall.

I was there a few decades ago, when they changed the team name from "Redmen" to "Minutemen" over the vehement objections of... almost no one.

Good to see that the place is still progressive.
