Another Obamacare success story

The large drug store chain for which my husband works closed one of their stores several weeks ago when the lease on the building ran out and were actually pretty good about offering new assignments to employees who were being displaced. One woman made the choice to work part time in the store my husband manages rather than take a full time job that was a less convenient commute. She's also a bit older and had considered retiring, but wants to work just another year or two.

The down side of this decision was that she lost her full time access to the company health plan. The good news was that it was a "qualifying event" that made her eligible to buy insurance on the exchange. She now has a better plan than the store managers do, and will be paying far less than our premium contribution. Good for her!
