NEW #radio ratings are in.
Big-city #RushLimbaugh stations are cellar-dwellers: #22 @ NY, #37 @ LA, #27 @ SFO, #19 @ Chicago, #21 Dallas
6:51 PM - 14 Apr 2014
In fact, in New York--where Limbaugh moved to Clear Channel's WOR a few months back--there are four stations ahead of Limbaugh's that aren't even English language stations.
And a classical music station.
It's quite simple. They're telling Limbaugh's advertisers what he is saying.

(882 posts)I'd like to see those numbers divided by the number of stations each host is on to get a "listeners per station" comparison. I think it would paint a different picture.

(51,076 posts)still finding them too. If it rains tonight I'll be back out in the morning looking
All in all we've found from 2 to 3 hundred this year, closer to three I'm sure.
Best season yet in my almost 40 years of gathering them.. Many of them have been small, thumb size but thats fine as they're just as good as great o big 'ns

If you were close to here I'd say come on over and enjoy them with us. Like my wife says with morels they're much better when you can share them with friends.
We had friends over last friday and I cooked some pork loin ribs on the big green egg to go with them and needless to see we were all stuffed.

(8,175 posts)You need to leave enough behind to keep broadcasting their spores...if you take too many, you kill them off.
I've seen it happen here where I live in the Pacific Northwest.

(2,952 posts)This should explain it. I mean it is hear say, but facts about Dominica and a suitcase with illegal Viagra doesn't bode well for him.

Jenoch
(7,720 posts)but that does not seem like evidence if him being a pedophile. I would not even say, like it days in that link, that Republicans are more prone to that sort of activity than Democrats, independents, thae apolitical, or members of most any organization.
(I generally skip the name calling and stick to facts.)

(2,952 posts)But I can tell you most non millionaires in Florida get sent to prison for having thousands of illegal opioid pain killers in their possession, most non millionaires go to prison for violating the terms of probation, which he did when he came back from an island very well known for it's child sex trafficking with hundreds of Viagra that weren't his...a violation of his probation at the time....again I acknowledge it's all hearsay, but I'm not going to let him near my grand kids either...
Jenoch
(7,720 posts)regarding the painkillers. It will interesting to see what happens to Irsay. My guess is probation.

(450 posts)The ratings are a estimated measurement of listeners. However, the problem with Right wing radio is that every right wing hosts parrots the same thing about liberals, health care, welfare, minorities and of course Obama. So a listener tunes in every day and they repeat the same thing every day. I bet there hasn't been a day since the ACA passed that the vast majority of right wing radio hosts have not bitched about it on their shows. So naturally people will tune out after realizing these guys just say the same damn thing every day.

(8,916 posts)The higher the ratings the more you can charge the advertisers and
you get the high end advertisers as well.
Now ratings may not matter to Lumbutt because he sells his show
to the station, then the station has to recoup its cost through
advertisement. Sometimes the host requests 1 min at each commercial
break.
If this is what Lumbutt does, then ratings would matter to him
because lower rating means less money he can charge.
gerogie2
(450 posts)it has nothing to do with the ratings measurement. Rush Limbaugh could have no advertisers and it would not effect the ratings measurement.

People prefer the savages and hannities.
The aging demographic he attracts is not what advertisers are interested in.

(1,695 posts)Most likely it will always be around. Just far less significant. I don't understand how the campaign to stop advertisers affects his ratings. Who listens for commercials? Lower ratings show less intrest in his bullshit. And I'd venture to guess a lot more people are switching off the AM radio and turning on podcasts, satellite, and playlists.
Either way, it's a win when fewer people hear his show.

There's a lot of money pouring in as investments to shore up the non-existent customer base.

(81,297 posts)They changed formats on what used to be KTLK with Stephanie Miller, Randi Rhodes, David Cruz, and folks like Bill Press in the overnights. For awhile they even had Mike Malloy on there - which was VERY exhilarating! But no - it had to be messed with, and vile turds like limbaugh, that-guy-whose-name-rhymes-with-Vanity, and other gas giants were slotted in and the whole branding of the station was changed to - - "The Patriot."
The station is STILL at the bottom of the list. As a matter of fact, in the latest ratings, the March Neilsens, they dropped another tenth of a point. I believe it was from .6 to .5 so they don't have much left to lose. Lots of blapping and flapping about how corralling all these wrong-wing hate-mongers together would finally up the ratings. Yeah, so much for THAT! Working like a charm! (NOT!!!) The top station on the list here in L.A. was a Top-40-type FM station with a 5.1 and even that was down several tenths. The limbaugh station is securely in the basement. Crappy signal to start with and now crappy programming to go with it. That's the only consolation - he used to be on a clear channel AM station - NOT the name of the megacorporation in this case but in signal strength. Nobody else on that frequency for hundreds and hundreds of miles. You could hear it at the very least from Santa Barbara to the Mexican border and at night - just about anywhere in the West. Now limbaugh and fiends are on a station you can't even hear in parts of Los Angeles.

...to the persistence of the StopRush movement. Not a lot of people believe these campaigns can be effective, and often give up.
Here's another to watch:
The "Duck Dynasty" clan isn't the draw it used to be. Not even in the Bible Belt.
Promoters announced last month that members of the Robertson family would appear at a show titled "Faith, Family & Ducks" at an 11,000-seat arena in Springfield, Mo.
For $37, $50 or $58, fans could enjoy live music and hear the bayou millionaires talk about "living the American dream" while staying true to their "family values and modest lifestyle."
But according to local media reports, the April 27 event has been canceled due to low ticket sales.
The golden era for the A&E reality series appears to be over. Ratings for last month's season five finale were down almost 30 percent from the previous year.
