In a way the government does require us to purchase broccoli and cell phones

The government requires us to pay taxes and this money goes to agriculture programs which aim to keep the cost of crops (including brocoli) at a certain cost level. I might not even like vegetables but my tax dollars go to create a marketplace where broccoli is more affordable.

It's the same with cell phones. I might not even have a cell phone only a regular line. But I pay taxes on this and the money goes to the FCC and they perform certain functions that allow cell phone service able to exist.

I guess Scalia can't even figure this out.
