(62,325 posts)the World wrote back. They said they didn't blame us, the people and were rooting for us. That was during Bush's first term.
I'm not sure if you wrote to the world after the 2004 election, I know I was too devastated at the time and thought that while they didn't blame us for ONE term, what would they think when we failed to get rid of him the second time?
By now, I don't know what the World thinks of the American people. We can't seem to get our country under the control of the people no matter how many times we vote.
I hope the world understands that it isn't ALL of us. But way more than even I thought sadly.

(36,464 posts)It was some guy on an American university campus asking the young adults there to name one of their senators. When none of them could, he asked them to name any senator. Only one girl could & she named Rand Paul.
I was telling a group of adults about the video, with some amazement, & some of them confessed that they could not name a senator, either! A friend of mine admitted that she couldn't name a senator. I'm stunned at the ignorance & lack of curiosity about politics. Holy fuck, people! Politicians are making decisions that affect every aspect of your life & you don't even know who they are?

(62,325 posts)and are out there, see all the protests against Wall St eg, across the country, and many others also.
I'm sure the PTB are not going to try to educate them though. So it's up to us. There have to be ways to make politics interesting to young people, so they can see HOW it affects their lives and futures.
