Following in the successful footprints of #McDStories and #ILoveWalgreens, the New York Police Department created a hashtag to commemorate our love for New Yorks finest:

(12,552 posts)says free speech is the same as money. Therefore speech isn't free as money has a definite value making it the opposite of free.
I hope that clears it up.

(13,685 posts)What scotus claimed is that spending money should be seen as free speech.
Money is merely a tool of society, backed only by faith.
The internet is a tool of free speech. The more free it is the better it can be. Limiting the internet would kill our opportunities to become a better democracy where everyone has equal power. Here we see a powerful org -- the police, having to share on a more equal footing a tool of free speech. Everyone will benefit form such communications and openness.

We give the police great deference. That means they owe us a good job.

(7,769 posts)The official @NYPDnews Twitter account made an attempt at social media outreach today only to get promptly torn to shreds by users resisting the PR push. Hijacked hashtags are a common Twitter phenomenon, but tend to be played more for giggles ("trolling," some call it) than to make a coherent political statement. With #myNYPD, however, a harsh pattern emerged right away.
It's safe to say none of these will be making the Facebook page:

(573 posts)several other police agencies are competing for the most brutal department. And I blame the "War on Drugs" with the police going from a service organization to a para-military group who thinks they have a duty to subdue the citizenry for the dictators in business.
