out of character, the last thing you would assume--yup, that is stunning! I'm excited for you, but take it slow. Only Rmoney flips completely over night. Seriously, happy for you and your brother.

I told him I didn't know what I would do if I was faced with such a bunch of clowns. Seriously Rmoney and Santorum, this is the best they can do. Yuck, I would either stay home or vote for Obama if I was in that situation.

He does admire good men (& women) & that made a huge difference, imo.

I'm anxious to talk to him when I see him.

for Gingrich, who I think would lose in a big way to Obama. We have open primaries here.

When my husband & I were talking about him earlier today, we wondered if the women's issues were part of the decision. As I pointed out in a post below, the wheels started coming off the cart late last year, which surprised me even more.

He married into a very Republican, religious family 34 years ago & that has a lot to do with it. But it's not in his character to think only of himself & how good he has it. He's very charitable & spends a lot of his time helping others. He is a church deacon & conducts a Bible study at the parish jail every week.

Thanks, roguevalley!

So something about this story is confused. He would have had to change his party registration to Democratic several weeks before the primary in order to vote for Obama. I voted in this primary too, and the voting machine would not let me, with my Democratic registration, vote for any Republican. (Not that I wanted to, of course.)

how he was able to vote for Obama as a Republican. He told me he had changed his affiliation to Democrat* in October, 2011. This is another interesting revelation!

*(I had wrongly assumed he had changed to Independent when I first talked to him. I talked to him again later & he said he was now a Democrat!!!)

I asked him what changed his mind about Republicans & he said he was disgusted at the lies being told. And, just as I had suspected, he said the Republican debates were painful to watch. I was bursting with enthusiasm in my mind but was careful to be gracious enough to hold back the "I told you so's". My family avoids talking about politics in order to maintain healthy relationships, but I always had faith that they would look at the big picture as well as read between the lines (& lies).
