Bundy aside, I really don't get racists. The guy that owns the LA Clippers has this girlfriend...

..who self identifies as Black and Mexican. They had an argument, well, listen to the tape. The guy's name is Don Sterling, his girlfriend is V. Stiviano. Here's an excerpt (fair use) from the site.

Sterling rails on Stiviano -- who ironically is black and Mexican -- for putting herself out in public with a black person (she has since taken the pic down). But it doesn't end there. You have to listen to the audio to fully grasp the magnitude of Sterling's racist worldview. Among the comments:

-- "It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?" (3:30)

-- "You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want. The little I ask you is not to promote it on that ... and not to bring them to my games." (5:15)

-- "I’m just saying, in your lousy f******* Instagrams, you don’t have to have yourself with, walking with black people." (7:45)

-- "...Don't put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don't bring him to my games." (9:13)

Is it me, or really, what the heck? Full disclosure: I don't follow sports, To me, LA Clippers sounds like a franchise hair cutting chain. Tip o' the chapeau to TPM.

fetishized. This isn't surprising in that context. They don't have a problem with people of color "staying in their place" ie in this case being fetishized or playing basketball.

If this is how he talks to her in public, I shudder to think what their private conversations sound like.

many public homophobes have been caught with male prostitutes. Larry Craig,
Rush Limbaugh (Jeff Christie) for example.

one's attracted to. It's the attraction that's scary, not the other way around. Homophobes are often homosexual. Aracnaphobes are never spiders.

So much to say - this is why black women have to be very careful when we cross the line with American men. And holy shit balls! On looks alone she could do much better let alone his ugly heart. Yuck!

I caught two of these once when I was single - she should have been able to feel him out by the third date.

He's eighty and I understand is married. I wouldn't go out with him and I'm in my seventies. Why is she? I can't even go with the money argument because in those athletic circles, there are plenty of younger men with money. I don't understand and I don't understand why a bigoted person like him would date a woman of color if he didn't want her to have friends like herself.

When it comes to associating with the sort of person who can give hundred-thousand-dollar sports cars as casual gifts, a lot of folks are quite willing to bite their tongues.

Well, almost anything. He must have crossed the line and she leaked this tape.

For him- if you listen to the tape, he has some bizarre notions about her. He doesn't seem to consider her truly black. He must have serious issues.

He is attracted to her youth & beauty, which overrides his racist nature. And she's attracted to his wealth & power, which override her distaste for his views.

Or to put it bluntly..he's thinking with his dick and she with of her status.

I hope she leaves him and he is publicly shamed for his disgusting comments.

His comments are definitely racist, but what I don't get is why the, paraphrasing, 'just not in public' part of his comments. Either way, the guy is an asshole and needs to be called out for his bigoted shit.

I guess people could boycott the Clippers, but that would only hurt the players, or would it? What would be the best way to go about making sure this guy knows he's an asshole whose tongue just dug his own financial grave? There has to be a way, right?
