Imagine the music they would compose about the sad events of today! The poverty, hate to the down and out, racism getting stronger every day and groups like the Klan recruiting more all the time.

that I saw at least 25 years ago. Excellent.

I knew Bessie Smith, at the time , but had not heard of Ma Rainey.

I remember her songs coming on the local radio station. We would always get shushed when one of her songs was announced so mom could listen to her. Great ladies.
