Real estate mogul Donald Trump condemned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling's alleged racist comments on Monday, but suggested Sterling had been "set up" by the "girlfriend from hell."
TMZ released audio that purported to be a conversation between Sterling and his girlfriend V. Stiviano on Friday, in which Sterling told Stiviano that he didn't want her taking photos with black people or bringing blacks -- like NBA legend Magic Johnson -- to basketball games with her. The fallout was swift and widespread: everyone from President Barack Obama to Michael Jordan condemned the remarks and the NAACP revoked Sterling's lifetime achievement award.
"It's terrible. He got set up by a very, very bad girlfriend, let's face it," Trump said on "Fox & Friends."
Shes called the girlfriend from hell, but what he said was terrible and despicable and a very strong action's going to be taken," he added. "Theres no question about it.

(1,698 posts)Donald coming to the rescue of Donald is too pathetic. Hey Trump, Sterling said everything you wanted to say, but you have one extra brain cell still firing he lacks. Shut the hell up! A public wife and girlfriend and this asshole is worried about being seen with Black people. Right!

(21,020 posts)Everyone knows that the "girlfriend from hell" tied him up and forced him (at gunpoint) to read nasty words from a script that she had prepared.
And she was sneaky enough to only get the audio part of it...not the video which clearly shows him being horribly tortured!!!!
And just in case nobody gets it...

If you're doubly dumb and want to be openly racist with the people around you, that is no trap... that is a moral failing.

Interim president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Lorriane Miller, on Sunday said that the organization has decided to no longer honor Clippers owner Donald Sterling.
"He is not receiving a lifetime achievement award from the NAACP," Miller said on NBC's "Meet the Press," according to Politico.

NAACP On Sterling: Local Chapters Need 'Better Vetting Process' For Awards
DYLAN SCOTT APRIL 28, 2014, 10:47 AM EDT
The NAACP's national office told TPM on Monday there clearly needs to be a better vetting process for awards given out by its local chapters after its Los Angeles branch was embarrassed into withdrawing an award it planned to give to basketball team owner Donald Sterling.
The comments came after Sterling, who owns the Los Angeles Clippers, was reportedly caught on audio making racially charged remarks. Contacted by TPM about why Sterling was being given a lifetime achievement award in the first place, a spokesman at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's national office said that it is "in the process of developing specific guidelines for selecting recipients moving forward."
"At the national office, we can't speak to the intentions of those in the LA Branch who selected Mr. Sterling as an award winner in 2009 or recently, but clearly there needs to be more scrutiny of potential recipients and a better vetting process," Derek Turner, the NAACP's director of communications, told TPM in an email. "We are in the process of developing specific guidelines for selecting recipients moving forward."
The NAACP's Los Angeles branch has elected not to give Sterling the award after audio became public of the owner asking a girlfriend not to bring black people to the team's games.

(12,336 posts)Trump has expressed interest in buying the Buffalo Bills franchise. After a comment like this, where he is obviously sticking up for the racist Sterling, there should be zero chance of him owning an NFL franchise. And since the NFL is very image conscious, I suspect that they won't let him in. At least I hope not.
