Limbaugh: Sterling Only 'In Trouble' Because He Didn't Donate Enough To Obama

CAITLIN MACNEAL – APRIL 28, 2014, 2:52 PM EDT

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Monday said that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling's racist rant is only news because he didn't contribute enough to President Barack Obama's campaign.

"This is not news to anybody who has known of this guy," Limbaugh said on his radio show. "This guy is a big Democrat. The only reason he’s in trouble is because he did not give enough money to Obama."

While some conservative commentators and outlets pegged Sterling as a Democrat based on a few donations he made to Democratic candidates in the 80s and 90s, the Clippers owner is actually registered as a Republican.

Limbaugh said on his show that he learned 10 to 15 years ago that Sterling was a racist, and that everybody in Los Angeles ignored it because the Clippers were overshadowed by the Lakers anyway.

Not only are they really good at just making things up, they also get their story out first. Any follow up is meant with "Yeah yeah yeah you can't change the story now"

Limbaugh is wrong as normal. Sterling is a registered republican http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/donald-sterling-registered-republican

Over the weekend, while nation-wide attention was focused on the racist comments reportedly made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, some conservative commentators were focused on something else: Sterling's party affiliation.

Specifically, certain conservatives were taking the media to task for supposedly ignoring Sterling's ties to the Democratic Party. But a bit of context was missing. Sterling is a registered Republican.

A search of The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's website using Sterling's name, date of birth, and address turns up a Republican registration, and the registrar-recorder's office confirmed the information to TPM on Monday. (The initial tip came to TPM from public records compiler eMerges.)

Rush tried the sports thing and failed because predictably when taken out of his echo chamber the wider world of America would not accept his statements as anything but offensively racist the same as Sterling.

He would not have been in any trouble if Democrats weren't raising such a fuss. That is how I understand what Limbaugh says.
