Watch a Kentucky man rescue a cat stuck in a tree after a flood:

After a bad flood, a man noticed a poor cat stuck way at the top of a tree. He kept an eye on her, but she didn't come down. He tried to climb the tree once to help her, unsuccessfully, and had to think of a Plan B to help this kitty.

After four days of being stuck up there in bad weather, the man had his plan and was ready to put it in motion -- and he filmed the whole rescue!

My heart is truly warmed by this. There ARE nice people in the world! And after saving the scared and hungry cat, he kept her safe in his home with his other rescue kitty (and he's looking for permanent homes for them if anyone is interested!).

Now that was a rescue. That didn't look like the sturdiest tree.
If you don't like country music, forgive him. He has a good heart.
Not a bad country song though.

of a great uncle of mine who died in the "37 flood" when he was in a boat and picked up a cat. The cat scratched him and he died from the infection. Hope things turn out better for this fellow.

she scratched me one day. That can occur at any time. People need to clean and keep an eye on anything like that. I'm sorry his great uncle died. He may not have taken the scratches seriously and in 1937 the medical options weren't as great.

It was always more of a cautionary tale recounted by my dad than anything else, it was a distant relative even for him and obviously no one I ever knew. This story just made me remember it after all these years, a guy in a flood with a cat.
