Elsewhere some are contesting the video, but the report of those who were hands on (literally) will be telling. Police should have taken photos as part of the interview. It is unknown if they did or not. There are claims that Zimmerman went to a private doc the next day. Records and radiology from that visit would also be useful.

There are other threads here about broken noses here on DU...my take is that the vast majority bleed and/or swell, but some do not.

In the video released yesterday I did not see someone who was injured...he is going to jail.

His whole story stinks. If he had been close to Martin when he fired, he'd have had blood soaked clothing.

He's a punk with a gun who panicked when the guy he was chasing started to scream for help.

Mine didn't bleed one single drop yet it was a very bad break requiring surgery to fix. I also got no swelling and no bruising or other indication that there was any kind of injury at all. My own family members couldn't tell even up close and personal that I had gotten any kind of nose injury at all. Even I myself couldn't tell looking in a mirror unless I held a pencil up against the ridge of my nose to see that it was off kilter. It was only the x-rays that revealed all the damage on the inside which was the reason I couldn't breathe at all out of one side of my nose. Of course, *I* knew it was broken immediately since I instantly couldn't breathe out of one side and it FELT like my nose was coming out of the side of my head.

No two broken noses are alike nor are the symptoms alike. Why in the world would they be?

A slow drip usually doesn't last all that long.

They ID'd the victim that he shot and then labelled Martin's body as a "John Doe" anyway. How will they explain THAT?

out too well for him! The "head wounds" would have been pretty clearly evident when you have minimal hair on your head.

It swelled up like a balloon right away and I sported two black eyes for a couple weeks. It was awesome since the whole thing coincided with the first two weeks of my sophomore year in high school.

When I broke my nose, it flattened out, it bled and I had 2 blackeyes. I stayed home from school because I was a mess. Kids at school teased me(that I got into a fight) for days about my black eyes once I returned to school.

There was no blood, but there was swelling and I had two black eyes, which showed up a day or so later and lasted for a couple of weeks, running the gamut from black and blue to green and yellow.

Nor did his face or clothing look as though he'd just been pummeled by an attacker. Nor did the back of his head.

Zimmerman seems to be breathing through his nose just fine!

I was THAT terrified of the surgery. But finally I couldn't stand it anymore and bit the bullet and had the surgery done. The aftermath of the surgery was aweful. I still get sick to my stomach remembering. The day after the surgery though I was basically fine other than feeling sick from the antibiotics. If I had known just how miserable that surgery was even though it was just the afternoon and that night in the hospital you couldn't have dragged me into surgery to this day... you'd have to catch me first, and I'd be sprinting!

Ugh, now I feel sick again.

I never got any swelling or bruising after the surgery either and I'd been warned of great big black eyes being likely. I just got a tiny bit of yellow in the corner under one eye. Thank goodness... dealing with the surgery was bad enough, I would have hated to be all black and blue and swollen to boot. I did have a really remarkable surgeon though. He let me play my Simon and Garfunkel tape on my walkman during the surgery and even had the tape flipped over for me. Not that I really recall any of the music since whatever anesthesia they gave me put me on some other planet (I swear I was NOT on this planet under that stuff). Must have been some crazy powerful antesthesia dope they gave me.

I'm not doubting you, but I'm curious how you could break it so bad as to need surgery but still not suffer any bleeding, bruises, or swelling.

IT WAS A MIRACLE! PRAISE GOD!!! 35 minutes later there is no evidence of this serious condition.
