I just got kicked in the gut part 2 from February

We moved our son into a beautiful new group home closer to our home today.

Back in February when my husband picked up our son with autism from his group home we found out he got a 30 day notice to vacate the group home. We found out from an advocacy group that they had to make a reasonable accommodation beyond 30 days in order to find a new home. It was slow going at first and we looked at one situation where he would have lived in a private home with a couple and another young man with autism our son goes to school with. I was not completely 100% satisfied. Then I got a call a couple of weeks ago from the regional center telling us of this brand new home. The lady already interviewed our son and really liked him. My husband and I went to look at it and felt this would be a good fit. When our son came home the next weekend we set up a sleep over for him and it went well. He has this beautiful room, larger than his one at home and at the other group home. Today we moved him from the old home to new one. One of the other residents who was our son's buddy was so upset over losing his friend he cried this AM. The people at the new group home are going to set up a call between the two tonight.

We are so relieved and thankful to finally get this settled. But I want to thank the community at DU that night we found out he was getting booted for all the love and support i received from my post. You guys rock! Thank you thank you thank you. Liberals are so awesome!
