Council Bluffs woman found guilty in kidnapping, abuse case

A cry went out from the crowd as District Court Judge Jeffrey Larson found Rebecca Beyer guilty of first-degree kidnapping and willful injury causing serious injury Friday afternoon.

Larson found the 46-year-old Council Bluffs woman guilty on both counts related to the abuse of her developmentally impaired stepson.

Beyer faces life in prison without parole with the guilty verdict on the kidnapping charge, a Class A felony. The willful injury charge carries a maximum 10-year prison sentence.

“This is one of the more horrific cases I've dealt with,” Pottawattamie County Attorney Matt Wilber said.
