Guess the "debate" was a real dud.
Should have been obvious when Glenn sold the snowden documents to Pierre Omidyar. As if paypal has not been cooperating with the NSA for years...

(10,274 posts)The only confirmation I needed was
A) His entering into a partnership with a billionaire who has a long history as a front man for USG NGO's
B) His being able to enter into the united states free from the fear of arrest when he has the so called "crown jewels of US intelligence".
C) Putting on a show with the murderous General Hayden
D) The Intercept is a pile of dung that has leaked squat from the archive.

Given that eBay founder Pierre Omidyar just invested a quarter of a billion dollars to
personally hire Greenwald and Poitras for his new for-profit media venture, its a question worth asking.
Its especially worth asking since it became clear that Greenwald and Poitras are now the only two people with full access to the complete cache of NSA files, which are said to number anywhere from 50,000 to as many as 200,000 files. Thats right: Snowden doesnt have the files any more, the Guardian doesnt have them, the Washington Post doesnt have them just Glenn and Laura at the for-profit journalism company created by the founder of eBay.
Edward Snowden has popularly been compared to major whistleblowers such as Daniel Ellsberg, Chelsea Manning and Jeffrey Wigand. However, there is an important difference in the Snowden files that has so far gone largely unnoticed. Whistleblowing has traditionally served the public interest. In this case, it is about to serve the interests of a billionaire starting a for-profit media business venture. This is truly unprecedented. Never before has such a vast trove of public secrets been sold wholesale to a single billionaire as the foundation of a for-profit company.

The whole debate is like ellsberg appearing with McNamera at a "debate" after the leak of the pentagon papers. It's obvious.

And how much safer are those documents on corporate servers instead of at the NSA? Hackers love to hack.
